SPECIALTY CONTACT LENSES
Scleral Lenses
Scleral Lenses are rigid gas permeable contact lenses with an extra large diameter. Scleral lenses are custom fit to vault over the entire cornea, creating a gap between the lens and the corneal surface before resting on the white part of the eye (sclera). The sclera has fewer nerve endings than the cornea. Fewer nerve endings means less sensitivity which can lead to a more comfortable lens. These lenses are most beneficial for patients who have corneal diseases, dystrophies, and degeneration (such as Keratoconus) as well as severe dry eye.
Synergeyes Hybrid Lenses
Hybrid lenses are a combination of soft and rigid lens materials. They have a rigid lens center and a soft skirt that drapes over the sclera (white part of the eye). These offer vision benefits of rigid gas permeable lenses while providing comfort like a soft lens. They are specifically designed for the treatment of Keratoconus and other corneal irregularities.
CRT (ORTHOKERATOLOGY)
Corneal Refractive Therapy is a non-surgical option that helps correct nearsightedness without the daytime use of contacts or glasses. CRT lenses are worn at night, reshaping the curvature of the cornea while sleeping so the vision is clear during the day.
