Dodd R. Portman, O.D.

Dr. Portman grew up in Michigan and graduated with honors from Michigan State University with a degree in microbiology. He received his doctorate degree of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1983. After graduation he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Moffett Field Naval Air Station and at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital.

After serving 3 years as a Naval Optometric Medical officer, Dr. Portman became a partner at Santa Clara Vision Center. Dr. Portman received his postdoctorate training for the treatment of ocular pathology from U.C. Berkeley. He is fully California optometric board certified and licensed to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye.

Dr. Portman is a member of the American Optometry Association, California Optometric Association, and is an active member of the Santa Clara County Optometric Society.

Dr. Portman's hobbies include skiing, bicycling, golf, and chasing his two boys, Alexander and Nicholas. Dr. Portman and his family live in San Jose.

Steven A. Neunzig, O.D.

Dr. Neunzig is a native of Santa Clara County. He graduated from the University of California at Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences. He received his optometric degree from Southern California College of Optometry in 2000.

Dr. Neunzig practices full scope general optometry with special interests in the fitting of contact lenses and laser vision correction co-management. He is California Optometric Board certified to diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the eyes and visual system.

Dr. Neunzig is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Santa Clara County Optometric Society.

In his free time, Dr. Neunzig enjoys an active lifestyle. His interests include golf, mountain-biking, snowboarding and wakeboarding, camping and hiking.

Dorit M. Scharff, O.D.

Dr. Scharff was born in Israel and raised in New Jersey. She received a Bachelors of Arts degree with honors from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. She moved to California to attend optometry school and earned her optometric degree from UC Berkeley School of Optometry.

She has been working as a family practitioner with Santa Clara Vision Center Optometric Group since graduating from optometry school in 1988. Her specialty interests include contact lenses, pediatrics, and laser vision correction.

Dr. Scharff is active in the Santa Clara Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. She is a member of the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau. She speaks Hebrew fluently, French moderately, and is currently studying Spanish.

Dr. Scharff lives in Palo Alto with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys traveling, biking and tennis.

Wendy Ni, O.D.

Dr. Ni was born in Taiwan and moved to San Diego at the age of 9. She graduated with honors from University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology. She received her Doctorate degree in Optometry with high honors from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 2003. During her extensive optometric training, she worked at VA hospitals, ophthalmology clinics, and low vision facilities. She also enjoyed her externship abroad in China at Beijing Medical University in an effort to establish optometry in the country.

Dr. Ni practices full scope general optometry with specialized interests in ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatric vision. She has conducted research in myopia to study the mechanism behind myopia development and treatments to slow its progression. She enjoys working with children to help control their nearsightedness.

Dr. Ni is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Santa Clara County Optometric Society.

Dr. Ni is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese. She also studied Spanish for a few years. She enjoys gardening, hiking, jogging, watching tennis and baseball, and taking care of her two boys.
